Weddings:
Getting Married in an Anglican Church

Wherever you go in the years ahead, a local church will always be there for you with friendship and prayer. Churches can offer so much more than simply a venue for your wedding ceremony.
Whether you are familiar with church, or whether it is new to you, after your wedding, you can go along to the church where you were married, or the church wherever you live, or even visit a church when you are travelling away from home.

We want your marriage to be happy and lasting, so we are prepared to put a lot of effort into equipping you. After your initial meeting with our Rector, he will arrange with you a convenient time each week, to meet for marriage preparation.

If you are married already, but would like to reaffirm your marriage vows, we would be delighted to help you to do that. We also offer blessings for Civil weddings. We want your wedding day to be one to remember with joy, and we will help you in any way we can.
Christian marriage is intended to be a life time commitment, but we recognize that sadly sometimes this is not possible. If you are divorced and are wondering if it may be possible to remarry in a church, please contact us and we will meet with you and discuss the possibilities.
Congratulations on your decision to get married, and we look forward to hearing from you either by telephone, email or in person.

Baptism & Confirmation:
Becoming part of God’s family
Baptism (christening) is a very important outward sign of an inner decision made about our own faith.

It is a serious choice which should only be undertaken with true intent to follow through on the promises made before God.

When adult people are baptized, they make important promises about what they believe. The priest prepares them for their baptism over a period of time. In baptism, Christians believe that not only are we symbolically cleansed in the water of baptism, but that we also receive the Holy Spirit into ourselves.

When babies and young children who cannot answer for themselves are baptized, parents and godparents, make promises on their behalf, to bring them up in the faith. If you are not sure you can keep these promises, or not sure yet, we also offer a blessing ceremony giving thanks for the birth of a child. This can then lead to baptism later on, if you wish it.

Baptism is meant to lead to Confirmation. This is the time when young people and adults confirm the decision of baptism, previously made on their behalf by their parents and godparents whilst they were babies (or young children.) Adults when possible can be both baptised and confirmed on the same day.
